Ubisoft seems bent on presenting us with an ever cheaper version of the half-cooked and warmed-over slop that we've come to expect from a series that should have had its plug pulled after Assassin's Creed Black Flag. Even the voice acting is nowhere near what it used to be (whereas AC3 had Canadians trying and largely succeeding in pulling off convincing English accents, now they are almost Dick-van-Dyke-level, with Andrew Shaver's Stowe being the worst of the bunch, as the question isn't merely where in England his accent is from - it's hard to discern whether it's even supposed to be English.

The fall in quality is not limited to the direction or the writing: where movement used to be fluid, it's now clunky and frustrating the missions are boring (with one exception in the segment Kingmaker's climactic episode "A Fury from the Sea", which brings a fleeting taste of AC's former glories). But all that former vitality has gone, and the developers seem unable or unwilling to achieve the same quality the series used to have. The sad thing is, this series still has so much potential, with many little-known episodes of history that could be explored in the same way that Ezio and Edward Kenway did in "Brotherhood" and "Black Flag". Ubisoft seem to be fully committed to flogging this dead horse for as long as they can squeeze some extra cash out of it. In Valhalla, we're dragged half-heartedly through another tired historical era that other media (TV's "Vikings", Hollywood's "The Vikings") have done to death. Sadly, with Odyssey and now Valhalla, Assassin's Creed seems to have completely lost its way. I wholeheartedly recommend gamers this game to play and enjoy it. Even though, in my opinion, the Ezio games are so much better, Valhalla has enough elements to allow you to enjoy it. It's one of the best games I've ever played in 2020, it's truly amazing. This game is just so awesome! Assassin's Creed Valhalla is definitely a game I recommend to every AC fan and RPG fans. it's Cnut from The Last Kingdom playing Eivor? Who would say no?!). The visuals are great on both the PS4/PS5 and the Xbox One/Xbox Series X. Blending in with people? Now that's what I'm talking about, and that's what was lacking from the past two games. No, it's not the best kind of stealth and it's not just go up to somebody and assassinate him all the time. Stealth is back and better than I imagined.

Valhalla makes you feel like a viking, but you can upgrade your character to play like an assassin. I would go out my way and call it one of my favorite games of 2020. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is one of the greatest games in the entire franchise.

If you're like me, someone who's been a fan of this franchise since Black Flag, then this is the type of game that will definitely win you over like it won me over.

If you don't like upgrading your character and grinding your weapons to become stronger, you probably won't like this game. If you don't like RPGs, you probably won't like this game. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is simply amazing and exactly what I've been looking for in this new direction they're taking this series. Again, I enjoyed those games, but I don't love them. I didn't love those two games, but I can see why both of them won critical acclaim and why they went into the Game Awards for game of the year. This might shock you, but I really liked Origins and Odyssey. I've been excited for this game for a long, LONG time.
